How to Start Your Telemedicine Appointment

Step 1. Download Zoom.

Before your appointment, download the Zoom software on your Windows computer, MacBook, or mobile device.

  • For a Windows device or MacBook, you can download the software at https://zoom.us/support/download
  • For a mobile device or tablet, ZOOM is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Step 2. Check your email.

One business day before your appointment, you will get an email from your doctor or advanced practice provider. The email will come from Noran Neurology. This email will have a secure link to click on, which will open up the video call with your doctor.

Step 3. Click on the link just before your appointment time.

15 minutes before the time of your scheduled appointment, click on the secure link in your email to open up the video call. This will open the Zoom software and bring you directly to the provider’s virtual waiting room.

Step 4. Update your name for the appointment

If this is the first time you've used Zoom, you will be asked to enter your name. Please enter your full legal name. If Zoom has been used before on your computer or device, the name entered during the last meeting will be the one that shows up. Update your name in Zoom so the provider will know it is you in the waiting room. Click here for directions to update your name in Zoom.

Step 5. Let the doctor see you by clicking "Join with Video."

It is important for neurology appointments that the doctor is able to see you while they are speaking to and evaluating how you are doing. To let the doctor see you, click "Join with Video" to turn on your video. You will also be asked to click "Join with Audio" so that the provider can hear you.

Step 6. Wait for the doctor to start the appointment.

You are all set! You have now been put in a virtual "waiting room" until the doctor starts the video visit. You will be able to see and talk to your doctor, and they will be able to see and talk to you.
