Prepare for Your X-ray

An X-ray machine produces a small, safe dose of radiation to construct pictures of the inside of the body.

Before the X-ray:

• Please let our technologist know if you are or may be pregnant
• You may be asked to change into a gown and remove your jewelry

During the X-ray:

• X-rays generally take only a few minutes for each view, and the length of the exam will depend on the number and type of X-rays requested
• The specially designed radiographic table comfortably accommodates all patients, including non-ambulatory, elderly, or larger patients

Test Results:
Following the X-ray examination, a radiologist analyzes the images and sends a report to your doctor, who will then discuss the results with you.
